WHAT is a DUCT PERFORMANCE TEST ?
Also known as a duct leakage test, it is a diagnostic procedure used to measure how much air leaks from the ductwork in your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system. The test is to evaluate the efficiency and integrity of the duct system. Our test will include the following;
- Check current static pressure to determine system airflow.
- Visually inspect the current ductwork for any imperfections.
- Inspect for proper sealing and strapping.
- Measure each room that is conditioned by the unit we are performing the test on.
- Measure the airflow out of each supply register.
- Note the grille size in each room.
- Note the duct size to each grille.
- Calculate the required airflow to each grille.
- Compare the required airflow to actual airflow.
- Verify that the ducts can accommodate the airflow required.
- Discuss the findings with the client.
- Provide solutions to resolve airflow issues that were discovered.

- Comfort: Leaks can cause hot and cold spots in rooms.
- Indoor Air Quality: Leaks can draw in dust, mold, or pollutants from attics, crawlspaces, or walls.
